If you are interested in the downtown Madera Arts Center Project, we are ready now to share the results of your input in the past 2 stakeholder meetings and other special input sessions we have had over the past 6 months.
Our third stakeholder meeting will be held at Madera South High school. We are waiting for school staff to return to determine the exact room on campus.
- Madera South High School
- Wednesday, August 16
- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Halajian architectural firm will be there to show their work so far and take your reactions and input. We have some beautiful renderings for the new Arts Center as well as the layout for the renovation of the old Madera Library. We will also see some streetscapes to tie the Civic Center and downtown together. I hope you will like what your see and be able to help make sure we have thought of all the major needs of the community.
To update you on a couple of results of our efforts thus far.
- First, the Madera County Board of Supervisors has allocated funds to tear down the old block building in the park to make way for a more beautiful park area.
- Patrick Fitzgerald, Madera County Librarian, has joined the MCAC Board to further collaboration between the old and new libraries for programming.
- The County, City, Madera Unified School District and the Arts Council are forming a Joint Powers Agreement to make decisions about the complex.
- The Board of Supervisors will entertain a resolution to identify the historical status of the old library in August. This will helps us in the future with such things as grants and making the building handicap accessible.
- This of us who have been uniquely involved in the planning thus far are excited that our community is embracing this project and sees value in upgrading our community services. It is the first step in making the dreams come alive.
Join us if you can on August 16. We look forward to hearing from you.
