NORTH FORK - Michael Olwyler will hold a book signing event in Friant, California, on Saturday February 17, between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm for the newly published photo book of his father’s black and white photography. The event will take place at 21015 Lago Bello Lane in Friant.
Peter Olwyler’s photographs from the geographic center of Mexico have just been released in a new, beautifully packaged photo book full of iconic images from the latter half of the 20th Century. The photographs are historically significant, topically interesting, and amazingly beautiful. Many have never been seen before. The images are all from Peter’s ‘Early Mexico Period’ from 1955 to about 1971.
Peter’s son, Michael, designed and published the book, and has included images of the Mexicans and expatriates of the city of San Miguel de Allende and the surrounding communities—farmers, artists, vendors, teachers, students—the salt of the earth of central Mexico. Since his father’s passing in 1999, Michael has been archiving and accessioning Peter’s 40,000+ images. Michael said, “I want to perpetuate Peter’s legacy by sharing with others his fine-art photojournalism, and to encourage a better understanding of the milieu in the Bajío area of central Mexico.”
