RESTAURANT REVIEW - I have been a fan of Round Table Pizza for years. Of all the chain pizza places Round Table is by far the best. However, I have not been a fan of the local franchisee or his wife. It's a personal thing that does not need to be explored in this review but it would be hypocritical of me not to acknowledge that there have been problems between us in the past.
There is an old joke that says "Pizza is like sex, when its good it is really good and when it's bad it's still pretty good". I feel that was about nearly all the pizza locations in Madera (except Dicicco's which is just too greasy). Even a hot Little Caesar's Pizza is better that a salad with a side of broccoli. What Round Table, Me n Eds and the new Premiere Pizza have going for it is that it is still good for breakfast, cold right out of the refrigerator.
Round Table offers some of the freshest toppings and their crust is awesome. The biggest problem I've had with the chain of restaurants is their prices are too high. One of the problems I had with the local franchisee is that when the chain offered a special on TV, he didn't honor the special.
I think because of increased competition and the economy tanking, the local franchisee is finally offering some very good deals to get you into the restaurant. He now has a one toping large for $9.99 and a midweek special which promises any of his large pizzas are only $12. I like this special so much, I usually order two (one for that night, one for breakfast and lunch the next day).
In the last year the game room next to the restaurant was removed, but there are still a few games near the restrooms. They still offer two areas for group meetings or birthdays. While the footprint of the restaurant is smaller the high quality of food is still the same, and now their pizzas are priced at a more competitive level..
If you haven't been into the Madera Round Table Pizza in a while, it's time to give them another chance. There are a lot of choices in Madera for pizza and right now the prices are family friendly.
