CDCR Offers $500 Reward for Information Leading to the Arrest of North Kern State Prison Walkaway

DELANO – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the apprehension of inmate Daniel Lucas Salazar.

Inmate Salazar, 31, was discovered missing from the Minimum-Support Facility at North Kern State Prison by custody staff on Friday November 3, 2017, at approximately 9:10 p.m. during an institutional count. Escape procedures were immediately activated, and notification was made to Kern County law enforcement agencies.

Authorities believe Salazar is in the Tuolumne County area, and are diligently working to locate and apprehend him. Salazar is described as a Hispanic male with short black hair, hazel eyes, 6’1’’ tall and weighing approximately 185 pounds.

If anyone has any information on Salazar’s whereabouts, or if anyone sees him, please call 911, local law enforcement or CDCR’s Special Agent Eric Lauren (559) 351-3979 or Special Agent Arnold Cruz (559) 994-2861 immediately to report his location. Do not approach this individual.

Inmate Salazar was received by CDCR in August 2016 from Tuolumne County to serve a three-year, 8-month sentence for second degree robbery and use of another’s identification to obtain personal information. Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
