FRESNO - The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office annonced the arrest of a transient Fresno man wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a twelve year old girl this past Saturday. Luis Angel Ramirez (50) was arrested Monday evening after he turned himself in at the Fresno County Jail.
Early Monday morning, sheriff’s deputies responded to the sex offense call west of the City of Fresno. During the investigation, deputies learned Ramirez, an acquaintance of the victim’s father, had kidnapped the girl from the front yard of her home and took her to a nearby truck which was parked on the property.
Ramirez then put the young girl inside the truck, gagged and duct taped her mouth to prevent her from calling for help, and proceeded to sexually assault her. Before leaving, Ramirez told the victim he would kill her entire family if she said anything about the assault. Ramirez then released the victim and fled on foot.
Ramirez is now being charged on several charges including kidnap, false imprisonment, terrorist threats, and felony sexual assault. Ramirez also has an outstanding warrant for charges of indecent exposure and attempted sexual battery from another incident.
Ramirez is described as a Hispanic male, 5-0/ 120 pounds with grayish brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue & gray short sleeved shirt. Ramirez is transient and is known to frequent the area of Belmont & Freeway 99. There were several sightings of him in that area earlier today.
