FRESNO - The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying three juveniles who beat and attempted to rob a thirteen year old victim as he walked home from school.
Yesterday evening, at about 6:00pm, the victim was walking in the 4000 block of Union Ave when he was approached by the three male suspects. One of the suspects, his face covered by a red bandana, produced a small handgun and struck the victim in the head.
The suspect then demanded money. When the victim told the suspects he didn’t have anything, the suspect repeatedly struck the victim with the handgun while a second suspect struck and kicked him. The third suspect acted as a lookout.
A neighbor witnessed the incident and chased after the three suspects. The suspects attempted to hide behind the Fresno County Library located on the southwest corner of Cedar & Clinton. When the neighbor caught up to them, the suspects ran across Cedar Ave and disappeared into the neighborhood.
The victim sustained minor injuries to his face and head which required medical attention.
The suspects were described as all Hispanic male juveniles, ages 15-17, and were wearing white or light gray T-shirts. The suspect armed with the handgun was also wearing a gray baseball cap.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at 600-3111, or CrimeStoppers at 498-STOP(7867).
