FRESNO - Fresno Police are investigating the homicide of an Edison High School football player, Marquis Sutton (18). While police initially said a 911 caller reported someone was lying on a sidewalk, the truth is the young mans body was moved to that location following a game of Russian roulette gone bad.
Police now say Sutton was hanging out with four friends inside an apartment near the intersection of Ashland and Marks, where the body was found, when Terrance Lee shot the victim in the back.
A witness told police that Lee had picked up a revolver, removed all but one bullet, spun the cylinder and fired twice at Sutton. On the second attempt, a bullet struck Sutton in the back and the bullet exited the victims neck.
Police believe Lee and another person allegedly dragged Sutton's body to the curb, where the suspect told the witnesses to tell the police that Sutton had been shot in a drive-by shooting in an attempt to take the focus off Lee. The gun used in the shooting had not been recovered.
Lee has been arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for murder. Police say the shooting was not gang related but that drugs may have played a factor. Marijuana and methamphetamine were found inside Lee's apartment.
