FRESNO - The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office has filed five felony counts against Bernard “Crazy Bernie” Siomiak and Tammy Vestal of Fresno. Siomiak and Vestal are accused of committing fraud over the course of several years by falsely underreporting their earnings on documents submitted to both MediCal and Covered California, signed under penalty of perjury.
As a result of these misrepresentations, Siomiak and Vestal obtained over $23,000 in publicly funded benefits. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that Siomiak was not entitled to any of these benefits.
Siomiak and Vestal have each been charged with one count of PC 487 (felony theft), one count of PC 118a (perjury), one count of WIC 10980 (making a false statement to obtain aid), one count of WIC 14014(a) (making a false declaration to obtain aid) and one count of WIC 14107(b)(4) (filing a fraudulent claim).
If convicted of all charges, Siomiak and Vestal both face a maximum sentence of four (4) years and eight (8) months in state prison.
Siomiak was the owner of Crazy Bernies Funiture Store in North West Fresno., He closed his furniture store at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
