Deputy Captures Couple Vandalizing Fresno’s Historic Christmas Tree Lane

FRESNO -A Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy has booked 61 year old Jeffry Haugh and 45 year old Mary Brindle, both of Fresno, into the Fresno County Jail. Haugh faces felony charges of vandalism and grand theft of copper materials. He also had an outstanding warrant for drug possession. Brindle faces felony charges of vandalism and grand theft of copper materials.
Around 4:00 pm on Thursday, a deputy responded to a suspicious activity call on Van Ness Blvd., near Gettysburg Ave. The deputy found a man and a woman using a motorcycle to pull a cart, which was filled with dozens of extension cords.
The suspects, Jeffry Haugh and Mary Brindle, were cutting and pulling the cords down from trees so they could strip away the copper wiring inside and then recycle the material for cash. These cords had been left in place from the holiday season as homeowners utilize them to plug in their decorations and lights as part of Old Fig Garden’s Christmas Tree Lane.
Deputies notified organizers of Christmas Tree Lane and they are now accessing the damages caused by the criminals.
Anyone with additional information to aid in this investiagation is asked to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867, www.valleycrimestoppers.org You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
