Property Crimes Detectives Arrest Parlier Man Moments After Two Armed Robberies

FRESNO COUNTY - Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 29-year-old Fernando Gonzalez of Parlier. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on nearly 20 felony charges, including multiple counts of robbery and being a felon in possession of a gun and ammunition. His bail is set at $845,000.

Shortly before 10:30 am on January 4th, deputies responded to an armed robbery at the EZ Stop Mini Mart located at 11024 S. Fowler Ave. in Selma. A masked man pointed a handgun at the clerk and took cash from the register. Deputies reviewed surveillance video and saw the suspect leave in a silver Honda Accord. The car’s license plate was legible thanks to a high-quality camera. The deputy provided the car’s license plate number to dispatchers, which was relayed to property crime detectives as they were responding to the store.

While on his way to the store, one detective saw the suspect’s car pass him, going the opposite direction. The detective flipped around and followed the car into the Chevron gas station located at 13025 S Van Horn Ave in Selma, approximately six miles from the EZ Stop Mini Mart. The suspect threw an object out the window, later determined to be a gun. The detective and assisting deputies took the suspect, Fernando Gonzalez, into custody. He had cash in his car and proved to match the identity of the EZ Stop Mini Mart robber.

Detectives later learned that Parlier Police was investigating an armed robbery that took place around 10:00 am at the Mendocino Market. The masked suspect pointed a handgun at an employee and stole cash. Through an identification process, Gonzalez was determined to be man responsible for that crime as well.

Anyone with additional information on Fernando Gonzalez is asked not to hesitate to contact Detective Larry Soto at (559) 600-8176 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867, www.valleycrimestoppers.org. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
