OAKHURST - Visit Yosemite | Madera County, in collaboration with Madera County, is pleased to announce the completion of the enhanced Park & Ride services and Visitor Information Kiosk project located adjacent to the Oakhurst Library. This completed project offers visitors and residents a convenient solution for accessing local dining, shopping, entertainment, information, and local maps, free parking, as well as four charging stations for those traveling with electric vehicles.
Madera County has taken significant steps to cater to the growing need for sustainable transportation options by installing Electric Vehicle charging stations around the county. The Oakhurst Park & Ride is now equipped with four EV charging stations, available at a rate of $0.20/kWh and free for the first 240 minutes with $5/hour after, encouraging environmentally conscious travel for electric car owners. Moreover, the inclusion of the Madera County Connection bus stop and Oakhurst Trolley stop further underlines the commitment to expanding public transportation solutions that extend the charm of Oakhurst to the broader region.
With the generous support of Visit Yosemite | Madera County, the state-of-the-art Visitor Information Kiosk adds an extra layer of value to this project by including a detailed Oakhurst River Parkway map complete with hiking trails, local maps, and area information, and the kiosk is stocked with free Visitor Guides, brochures, and weekly local event flyers. These free assets ensure everyone has the tools and information they need to confidently and easily explore Oakhurst and the southern Yosemite area.
CEO of Visit Yosemite | Madera County, Rhonda Salisbury, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, "The enhanced Oakhurst Park & Ride is truly a one-stop-shop, with all the information you need, the start of the Oakhurst River Parkway trails, access to the Oakhurst Library, EV charging options, ample parking and hopping on public transit hassle-free. It's all about making life easier and more fun in our community."
The Oakhurst Community Park is committed to promoting an active lifestyle, exemplified by the onsite playground and trail system that winds through the picturesque surroundings of the River Parkway. Beyond its recreational offerings, the Oakhurst Community Park is a vibrant venue for local events and celebrations, hosting seasonal festivals such as the annual Oakhurst Fall Festival, concerts, and community gatherings that reflect the essence of a united community.
