FRESNO – On Thursday morning, the City Attorney’s Office Code Enforcement Division, California Department of Tax and Fee, and State of California Department of Cannabis Control jointly served a search warrant at AOA Private Golf Club.
The business is an upscale private golf club near the Fresno Yosemite International Airport. During the search, thousands of dollars worth of illegal cannabis, cannabis products, and paraphernalia were discovered. The illegal operation appears to have been ongoing for a significant time.
No arrests have been made at this time. A criminal investigation is ongoing. Investigators have currently seized property belonging to the business. Once the investigation is complete, items removed will be eligible for State or local asset forfeiture programs.
Last year, City Attorney Janz and California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the formation of the Cannabis Administrative Prosecution Program targeting illegal cannabis operations in Fresno. Since the inception of this program, dozens of illegal operations have been shut down.
Fresno City Attorney Andrew Janz issued a statement, saying in part, “The City of Fresno will continue to work with our state partners to target illegal cannabis operations that hurt our legal cannabis industry. This latest raid shows that illegal and illicit activities are occurring in all areas of our community, including places that appear reputable at first glance.”
