2nd Annual Pomegranate Festival Nov. 3rd @ Madera Municipal Airport
MADERA - Madera Mayor Brett "Ginger Ice" Frazier is encouraging people to “Pomegranate Rock” and a new video featuring him is showing people how.
“We wanted to show the world that Madera California is the Heart of Pomegranate Country and invite people to come see us during the Pomegranate Festival,” said Frazier. “So we figured there was no better way than a parody video.”
Frazier sings in the video and shows off some unexpected dance moves from a city leader. “Brett really pulled out an impressive performance,” said KC Pomering with the Madera Tourism Alliance, a committee of the Madera Chamber of Commerce which is putting on the festival.
“It was a lot of fun shooting the video. We had a blast, and really think it shows in the video. It was just a fun way to show off pomegranates and all the great things you can do with them,” said Jarrod Lyman with the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau. Lyman is also the chair of the Tourism Alliance and wrote the lyrics for the parody.
The video was shot over the course of a day featuring many tourist attractions in Madera and the surrounding area.
“We filmed at locations throughout Madera and the area,” The video showcases many pomegranate and other agritourism attractions such as orchards, wineries and more,” said Pomering.
Madera is honoring their connection with pomegranates during the second annual Madera Pomegranate Celebration, presented by Stiebs, taking place Oct 27 through Nov 4. There is a softball tournament, golf tournament, pomegranate dinners, recipe contest and the Pomegranate Festival Nov 3 at the Madera Municipal Airport.
