Frances Chapa (87) passed away peacefully at her Madera home on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born to Juan and Francisca Rubio on June 4, 1930 in Madera. She has been a lifelong resident of Madera, and worked for over 20 years as a sorter for Oberti Olives. Frances loved to dance and cook meals for her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren during their family gatherings. Frances was an avid word search player and also loved to go and watch her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Manual Rubio and Sal Rubio, and her four sisters, Blanche Hernandez, Carmen Reyna, Jennie Rubio and Mary Crandall.
Francis is survived by her husband of 64 years Eddie Chapa, her three sons, John Chapa of Madera, Jimmie and his wife Minnie Chapa of Modesto, and Alex and his wife Juanita Chapa of Madera, and her four daughters, MaryEllen and her husband Danny Garcia of Madera, Jane and her husband Mickey Gutknecht of Madera, Lori and her husband Esteban Rodriguez of Madera, and Diane and her wife Angela Chapa of Madera. Frances also leaves behind her brother, Richard and his wife Charlotte Rubio of Fremont, her two sisters, Ann Rubio of Northridge and Pauline Wolcott of Northridge, as well as her precious 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 2:00PM to 8:00PM with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Jay Chapel, Madera, CA
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:00AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Madera, CA
Interment immediately following at Calvary Cemetery, Madera, CA
