MADERA - Beloved husband, father, grandfather and coach, Gerald “Gerry” Sullivan, age 77, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in Fresno, CA. He was a native of Newport, RI and a resident of Madera, CA for 46 years,
He was in the banking business for 40 years working for numerous banks in the Madera area as a loan officer, where he made many loans to farmers. Gerry was in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962 and was an ambassador for the Madera Chamber of Commerce. He coached Pop Warner Madera Youth Football from 1974 to 1982 and was a member of the Madera Breakfast Lions Club.
Gerry was preceded in death by his brothers Ray and Thomas Sullivan and granddaughter Lily Marisol Torrez.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorretta Sullivan of Madera, CA. Six children: Michael and Rosa Montoya Sullivan of Santa Clarita, CA; Kathy Sullivan and Matt Torrez of Fair Oaks, CA; David and Cheryl Sullivan of Madera, CA; Patrick and Lisa Sullivan of Illinois; Timothy Sullivan and Michelle Spremich of Sacramento and Daniel and Amber Sullivan of Citrus Heights, CA. One brother: Henry Sullivan of Rhode Island. Two sisters: Joann Phillips of Rhode Island and Ellin Kidd of Texas and thirteen grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Jay Chapel in Madera. Funeral services will be Monday, August 13, 2018 at 5:00 pm at Jay Chapel. Inurnment will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA.
