Julius “Lawson” Rowe (91) of Madera

Julius “Lawson” Rowe (91) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 22, 2019. He was born on August 16, 1927 in Hastings Oklahoma to Fount Tillman and Tempie (Tarter) Rowe. He and his family moved to California during 1929 and settled in Madera. Julius was a graduate of Madera High School. On June 15, 1952 he married Muriel Laverne Rowe. They had two sons, Ron and Randy.

Julius was quite man, known for his great sense of humor, high moral character and his love for his family and friends. Julius and Laverne were married for 67 years and she was the love of his life. They were a model couple for all of us. They enjoyed a deep loving relationship; they were truly best friends. The loved for each other they shared was amazing. They were blessed to be able to travel a lot and they loved to hook up to their RV and just take off.

Julius is a Korean War veteran serving in the US Army from 1952 through 1954 stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Julius was a successful farmer and he owned a successful custom hay bailing business, employing several people for over 60 years. He treated each of his employee’s as part of his family. Helping them to develop an understanding of how important it was to always do your best work. He loved farming and working with his hands. Hard work never bothered him. He worked with wood at a young age, He built furniture in high school that is still in use today.

He is preceded in death by his father Fount Tillman, mother Tempie Ellen (Tarter) and brothers, Clinton, Clifford, Ira and Glen. He is survived by his beloved wife Laverne, and sons Ron (Bonnie), Randy (Karen). He had six grandchildren; Ashley, Andrew, Annika, Justus, Jodi and Jennifer and five great grandchildren; Finn, Opal, Christabelle, Cadance and Kortlyn.
and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday August 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Arbor Vitae Cemetery 1301 Roberts Ave Madera.
