Billie Mahon (80)

Billie Mahon (80) passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. She was born in Mesa, Arizona on November 10, 1941, to William and Eva Marie Gaines. The family, including older sister Gloria (Nana) and younger brother William (Wee-um) lived all over, eventually settling in Madera where Billie would live the rest of her life.

She met the love of her life, Bob Mahon, at Madera High. The two were married in 1960 and had a wonderful life and marriage together that included their four children: Ruth Ann, Robert, Patricia (Tricia) and Susan (Susie).

Bob and Billie owned the Snowhite Bakery in Madera and it was the center of their lives for many years. After selling the bakery, Billie would also work for many years as a supervisor at the Grape Jellyfish Café inside Valley Children’s Hospital where she was beloved by the patients and people she worked with.

Billie loved to shop, go to Chukchansi to gamble with Bob, and to take big family trips to the Central Coast. If you had ever been shopping with her, you knew Billie was the QUEEN of the deal. She would scour the sales racks for hours to find that gorgeous $200 designer top for $5 final sale (plus a 50% off coupon that made it $2.50!).

However, as much as she loved her hobbies-she loved her babies more. Billie lived to welcome each new addition to the family and she was the best mom, grandma, and great-grandmother ever. The last years of her life were especially brightened by the births of her three great-grandchildren Smith, Finley and Reese.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents: William and Eva Marie; her older sister Gloria; and her son Robert.

She is survived by her husband Robert; her daughters and spouses: Ruth Ann (Doug), Patricia (Barry) and Susan (Eric); her grandchildren and spouses: Kelsey (Alec), Phillip, Jackson, Sydney, Leo, Shelbey (Nick) and Codee (Marie); three great-grandchildren; her brother William; and many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.

The family would like to thank Marie, Tasha, Sarah and Hinds Hospice for all their kindness and help during Billie’s last years.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
