Anthony Joseph Basila II (37) of Madera, California died on Saturday, March 5, 2022 after a brief illness with his sister at his side. He was born in Fresno, California on July 15, 1984 to Velta and Kenneth Basila of Fresno, California.
He attended St. Joachim’s School in Madera. As a youth athlete, he excelled in soccer and baseball. He graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School, class of 2003. He went on to study graphic design and digital media at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. Upon returning home, he devoted his life to the family farm working alongside his father and grandfather, and eventually making his home on a farm of his own.
He married Kristy Reyes Amaya of Madera, California on November 4, 2017. Anthony was a sports memorabilia collector and was especially proud to show off his vast collection. He was a devout San Francisco Giants Fan and enjoyed rooting against the Dodgers. He enjoyed taking his family to Chukchansi Park. He was also an avid bowler and animal lover.
Anthony is survived by his wife Kristy Basila, his daughter Amelia Grace Basila, his parents Kenneth and Velta Basila, his sister Sarah Basila Mattos and her husband Jason Mattos, his niece Marissa Mattos, his nephew John Robert Mattos, his aunt Laura Basila and uncle Greg Saunders of Elkgrove, their sons Ryan Saunders and his wife Michelle and Tyler Saunders, his uncle Robbie Littrell of Madera, mother in law, Patty Reyes, sister-in-law Patricia Reyes, brother-in-law Victor Reyes and his wife Monica Reyes, their children Maya Reyes and Aaliyh Reyes, and his pets – Ramsey, Bochy, Abby and his two damn cats.
Anthony is preceded in death by his sons – Anthony and Isaac, his grandparents – Barbara & Anthony Basila of Madera and Roberta and Robert Littrell of Madera.
Funeral services will be held at St. Columba Anglican Church of Fresno on Monday, March 21, 2022 10:00 AM.
