Karl Emery Hancock (62)

Karl Emery Hancock (62) passed away peacefully in his favorite chair on the morning of June 27, 2022, at the age of 62. Karl was born November 24, 1959 in Fresno California to his parents Billy and Doris Hancock, both natives of Madera CA. Karl graduated from Hoover High School in 1978 and later graduated from Fresno City College and attended Fresno State University.

Karl always wanted to work in Law Enforcement and his dream came true when he was hired by the Madera County Sheriff’s Department in 1982. Karl spent over 23 years with the Sheriff’s Department with a brief break in service when in worked for several years as a Private Investigator in San Francisco. During that time in San Francisco he met his wife Toni and had his two children, Austin and Karlie.

Karl was well known for his story telling to his friends, but especially to his nieces and nephews. As most good storytellers, he would mix folklore with his own version sprinkled with a little truth to hold his audience captive.

Karl loved the Raiders and the San Francisco Giants. His hobbies included meeting with his former co-workers over coffee and how they would solve the world problems. In years, passed Karl was involved with the American Legion Riders where he was able to ride his motorcycle. Due to his charming personality, he will be truly missed by his many family and friends.

Karl is survived by his two children, Austin and Karlie, his mother Doris Hancock of Johnstown Colorado, his sisters Leanne Haynes of Johnstown Colorado, Julie Rowell of Salina Kansas, Lesley Nunez of Paradise California, his twin brother Ken Hancock of Tucson Arizona, and his two half-brothers Andy Hancock of Yuma Arizona and Billy Hancock of Eureka California.

Funeral and Celebration of Life will be conducted at Jay Chapel, 1121 Roberts Ave, Madera CA, at 11:00 am on September 8, 2022. There will be a reception following the Celebration of Life at the V.F.W. Hall, 2026 N. Granada Drive, Madera, California starting at 1:00 p.m.
