Rena Zoe “Tinker” Gunter (84), passed away suddenly following a period of declining health. Tinker was born in Corley, Arkansas to Ralph Anderson and Bernice Rich Anderson. The family later moved to Madera, California where she graduated from Madera High School in 1955. For several years she worked for Bank of America in San Francisco before returning to Madera to marry the love of her life Clarence Gunter, a Madera farmer and rancher.
Tinker enjoyed handling the bookkeeping for the family farm. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, quilting, crocheting and spending time in the mountains. But her most joyful activity was being a wife and mother. She and her family attended 1st Assembly of God Church in Madera. She always looked forward to the Friday night singings.
Tinker was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years Clarence, sister Gillian “Punky” Gunter and her husband Carrol, sister Glenda “Ducky” Anderson, sister-in-law Jan Anderson, nephew Darren Anderson and niece Cathy Wittwer.
Tinker is survived by her 3 sons Larry Gunter, Roy Gunter and his wife Annette, David Gunter and his wife Peggy all of Madera. She is the sister of Duane “Dobber” Anderson of Madera and Thelma Hanson of Alamogordo, New Mexico. She is the beloved grandmother of Colton and his mother Liz, Nathan, Brannon, Keith, Heather, Rebecca, Nicole and Melissa. She is the great-grandmother of Tommy, Preston, Tristan, Bridget, Madison, Caroline, Elena and Serah. She also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 10 AM at Jay Chapel in Madera. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Clarence at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
