Gerald L. Purcell (70), passed away on Thursday morning, June 29, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Fresno, California following a brief illness. Gerald a resident of Madera, California since 1978 was the owner and operator of Newton Property Management in Madera, and was a former long - time resident of Salinas. Gerald was born in Salinas California in 1947 to Lyle and Margene Purcell.
Gerald received is education in Salinas, graduating from Salinas High School and later attended Hartnell College. He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. Completing his military service he returned to Salinas and later married Vicki Bayless in 1974. Gerald was an avid Street Rod enthusiast and had many friends nationwide who shared his passion for the sport.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father Lyle Purcell. He is survived by his wife Vicki Purcell, and by his mother Margene Purcell both of Madera. He is the beloved father of Lynzey Mills of Ozark, Missouri and Kortni Feliu and her husband Angelo of Madera. He is the brother of Rev. David Purcell and his wife Linda of Tualatin, Oregon and is the beloved grandfather “Papa” to his four granddaughters, Isabella Brady, Sofia Feliu, Savanna Mills and Brooklyn Mills.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 2 to 8 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera. A graveside service with military honors will be on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10 AM at Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.
