Barbara Arlone Pistoresi (92)

Barbara Arlone Pistoresi (92) passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the age of 92. A lifelong resident of Madera, she was born on September 23, 1922, the youngest daughter of Harold and Evelyn Conklin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Pistoresi and her sisters, Eloise Mason and Ilene Klawitter.

She is survived by her son, Ron Pistoresi and his wife Ronda, her daughter, Dolores Young, her granddaughter, Deanna Young, two great-grandchildren, Trista and Matthew, and one great-great-grandson, Elliott. She is also survived by her beloved 4 legged companion, Fuzzy.

A graduate of Madera High School, she married Edward Pistoresi on September 27, 1942. Her daughter, Dolores, was born September 11, 1946, and on February 25, 1951, her son Ron was born. She was active in the Howard Elementary School P.T.A.

She loved being a farmer's wife and when her children became active in 4-H and F.F.A., she dedicated herself to becoming a 4-H leader. She never missed an opportunity to help out, from making sure a uniform was spotless to helping to get an animal ready for the show ring. She was a co-founder of MAYA (Madera Agricultural Youth Association).

Barbara was an avid bowler and loved to compete in bowling tournaments all over the state where she won many trophies. Barbara had a proud 148 bowling average.

She worked for James Department Store and then Price's Gift Shop where she managed the kitchen department.

One of her favorite places to visit was Hawaii where she vacationed with her friends, Rose and Elvie. They were known in Hawaii as the "Golden Girls". Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts and thoughts forever.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel in Madera. Graveside Services will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. in the Arbor Area of Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.
