Evelyn Louise Manfredo (95) peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2016 at the age of 95. She is the daughter of John and Catherine Greco of Fresno and grew up in a hard working Italian family. After graduating from Fresno Technical High School her vibrant personality was recognized as she became Miss Fresno County.
She soon met Loyd Manfredo and in 1941 they married before Loyd was deployed in World War II. She worked on Navy planes during those war years while she taught piano and accordion lessons. She became a Fresno City “Aunt Mary’s” Hostess as Fresno was growing. Eventually she opened a children’s boutique on Belmont called Tiny Tots, later relocating and renaming it Guys and Dolls, a neighborhood children’s store on Fruit and Shields.
The store later featured stylish Junior and Women’s clothing for 35 years. She was involved in the Soroptomist Club, Better Business Bureau, a volunteer at St. Agnes Hospital, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Mother’s Club, Outreach at St. Anthony’s church, Red Hats and a member of the Silver Angels while still finding the time to be at the gym several times a week.
Her strong faith in God and love for her family were the most important things in her life. Her son, Ron and his wife Barbara along with her Grandchildren Mark, Jeff and Kristi and seven Great Grandchildren would give her great delight. She will be remembered for her generosity to her family and all the countless, holiday events, Spaghetti, Pesto dinners where all enjoyed in Christmas Toffee, and Italian Honey Cookies.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Loyd Manfredo. Surviving family includes her Son, Ron and wife Barbara Manfredo of Madera, their children Mark and Yvonne Manfredo of Chandler, Arizona along with their sons Ryan and Daniel, Jeff and Jill Manfredo of Clovis along with children Colin, Gianna and Olivia Evelyn and Kristi and Steve Hoffman of Clovis along with their children Gavin and Lily Catherine. She is also survived by nephews Rich Manfredo and wife Gail, Russ Manfredo and his wife Edee, Steve Manfredo and Niece Suzy Wren and her husband Kevin.
The Manfredo family would like to thank Mary DeLeon and her great team of home care ladies and the staff of Cedar Creek Retirement Living for their outstanding care these last few years. Another “thank you” goes to Dr. Norman Sigel for all his support and much appreciation to Jay Chapel for their professionalism when needed.
A Catholic Vigil will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 7 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua’s on April 6, 2016 at 10 AM followed by Entombment at St. Peters Cemetery in Fresno.
