Romelo William Venturi (99) was born December 19, 1914 in Madera to Amadeo and Isola Venturi. He was a lifelong resident of Madera and passed away on July 7, 2014. He attended Madera High School and during WWII as he was married with children worked in the ship yards in San Francisco.
He was a farmer for most all of his life but also worked in a bakery and was an expert cake decorator. His true joy was in agriculture and had a large garden and was considered a master gardener. Romo was an active member of the Italo-American Club and The Sons of Italy.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ida Venturi, his siblings Julius Urbano, Evo, Adele Giordano, Ann Mason, Jean Sekul and Son-in-Law Larry Hill. He is survived by his children Jim Venturi and his wife Pat of Madera and Romo's daughter Louise Hill of Madera, his sister Naomi Henderson of San Francisco. His grandchildren Kristi Francesconi and her husband Dennis, Steven Hill and his wife Tanya and 2 great grandchildren Lesli and Ryan Hill.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM at Jay Chapel; Madera, CA with the recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Private family crypt side service will be held at Arbor Vitae Cemetery Mausoleum. Family requests donations to be made to St. Joachim's Building Fund.
