Reba Schwartz Allred (93) a longtime resident of Madera, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Fresno at Clear View Retirement Home where she had lived most recently.
Reba was born in Flaydada, Texas one of six children born to Lee and Anna Garrett Mackey, The family later relocated to Madera County where she received her education, married and raised her family. Reba retired as a Bookkeeper following a career that spanned 27 years with the Madera Unified School District.
Active in the community of Madera, Reba was involved in numerous organizations including the Madera Emblem Club, the Madera County Historical Society, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1981 of Madera, the So-So Swing Club, the Delta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Assessorettes of the State of California, the Madera Community Hospital League of Volunteers, the Madera American Legion Post Auxiliary and the California Association of School Business Officials.
She was a member of the Madera United Methodist Church. In her leisure time Reba loved to RV, play golf at The Madera Golf & Country Club where she was member and enjoyed watching golf on Television. Reba enjoyed her Bunco group and a good game of cards.
In addition to her parents, Reba was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Mackey and Kenneth Mackey. Reba was married to Robert E. Schwartz a former Madera County Tax Assessor until his untimely death in 1980, she later married Robert Scott Allred and once again was widowed upon his death in 1999.
Reba is survived by her two sons, William L. Schwartz and his wife Patricia of Madera and Barry E. Schwartz and his wife Ravina of Fresno. She is the sister of Norma Lou Rivera and her husband Ray, Joanna Carr all of Fresno and Barbara Jean Baily of Upland, CA. Reba is the grandmother of Sandon Schwartz and his wife Julie, Brandon Schwartz and his wife Kasey, Heather and husband Wes Crockett, Chad and his wife Catherine, Eric, Kayla and is the great grandmother of Ashley, Avery, Andrew, Varick, Emery, and Asher. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service is Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Jay Chapel with interment following at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.
