BOISE, Idaho - On the eve of the 2018 Mountain West Football Championship Game, the Conference today unveiled a new championship trophy that will be presented to the winner of the annual battle between the top teams from the Mountain and West Divisions.
The championship trophy was designed and produced for the Mountain West by MTM Recognition of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. With more than 40 years of experience designing unique recognition pieces that celebrate excellence, MTM’s impressive roster of sport clients includes the NCAA, Big 12, Heisman Trophy Trust and almost two dozen college football bowl games.
The trophy will be unveiled during Friday’s media availability (3:45 p.m. MT) by Commissioner Craig Thompson and head coaches Bryan Harsin of Boise State and Jeff Tedford of Fresno State, whose teams will battle tomorrow in the 2018 Mountain West Football Championship Game. Kickoff is set for 5:45 p.m. MT at Albertsons Stadium in Boise with the game televised nationally on ESPN.
“Our championship trophy is emblematic of the shared commitment, sacrifice and excellence that is required to reach the pinnacle of Mountain West football,” said Commissioner Thompson. “When student-athletes and coaches raise this trophy in celebration following our championship game, they will have accomplished something extraordinary and fulfilled a season-long pursuit to be crowned champion.”
The new Mountain West Football Championship Trophy has three sides: one of which features the bold Mountain West block logo in purple and silver, while the other two pay tribute to the Mountain and West Division members of the Conference. Resting atop the trophy is a distinctive silver football.
Production specifications for the Mountain West Football Championship Trophy are as follows:
