Suspect Sought in Northwest Fresno Homicide

FRESNO - On Monday, October 2, 2017, at approximately 1p.m., officers were sent to a Northwest residence regarding multiple shooting victims.  Officer’s arrived and made contact with three shooting victims later identified as father, Roberto Ramos 52 years, mother, Irma Ramos 52 years, and son, Jacob Ramos 20 years.  The shooting victims were transported to CRMC where Roberto Ramos was pronounced deceased.

As previously mentioned, this was a violent attack on unsuspecting victims and displays a complete disregard for human life. Roberto Ramos was a dedicated family man and worked for a large restaurant chain.  The Homicide Unit has identified Lavale Shawn Vean aka “Fudge” 1/23/97 as the suspect responsible for the shootings.  The Homicide Unit is not releasing the motive for the shooting at this time. 


Madera County Board of Supervisors Censures District Attorney for Workplace Abuse and Harassment

MADERA - The Madera County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution in a special meeting Monday to formally censure District Attorney David Linn for allegations of workplace misconduct. In addition, the Board authorized the release of the redacted report. 

An investigation conducted by the law firm Liebert Cassidy Whitmore sustained allegations that District Attorney Linn engaged in a pattern of discriminatory, harassing and abusive conduct toward his department’s employees.  In response, the Board of Supervisors took the only legislative action within their authority as a corrective measure toward an elected official.

Dream Act Advocacy Brings Bitwise CEO to Capitol Hill

Stanislaus County Man Convicted of Child Exploitation

FRESNO - A federal jury in Fresno found Adam Alan Henry, 39, of Turlock, guilty of conspiring to sexually exploit a minor and receipt or distribution of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.

According to court documents and evidence produced at trial, from May 2012 until September 19, 2013, Henry conspired with another person to create video and still images of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. From 2007 through September 2013, Henry used a file-sharing program to receive child pornography.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Ceres Police Department with assistance from Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys David L. Gappa and Ross Pearson are prosecuting the case.

Arrest Made in Bass Lake Home Invasion Robbery

BASS LAKE - At about 7:30 Saturday evening, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a home invasion robbery in the 36000 block of Cedar Lane near Bass Lake. When Deputies arrived they found that a 77 year old female and her adult son had been robbed by two suspects who had knocked on the door and then forced their way into the home. The female sustained significant injuries and was transported to a hospital in Fresno; her adult son was not injured.

One suspect was described as tall and thin with long hair, the other suspect was described as shorter and stockier. Both suspects were wearing sweatshirts; the taller suspect had a hood and mask. The male victim further described the suspects as possibly Native American.

Inmate Charles Manson Dies of Natural Causes

CORCORAN – Convicted Murderer Charles Manson, 83, died of natural causes at 8:13 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at a Bakersfield hospital in Kern County. Manson was admitted to state prison from Los Angeles County on April 22, 1971, for seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder for the August 1969 deaths of Abigail Ann Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, Steven Earl Parent, Sharon Tate Polanski who was eight months pregnant, Jay Sebring, Leno La Bianca and Rosemary La Bianca.

On December 13, 1971, Manson received a first-degree murder conviction from Los Angeles County for the July 25, 1969, death of Gary Hinman and another first-degree murder conviction for the August 1969 death of Donald Shea.

CDCR Offers $500 Reward for Information Leading to the Arrest of North Kern State Prison Walkaway

DELANO – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the apprehension of inmate Daniel Lucas Salazar.

Inmate Salazar, 31, was discovered missing from the Minimum-Support Facility at North Kern State Prison by custody staff on Friday November 3, 2017, at approximately 9:10 p.m. during an institutional count. Escape procedures were immediately activated, and notification was made to Kern County law enforcement agencies.
